Avanade Australia is looking to hire a Senior Business Intelligence (BI) professional to support and manage engagements with Tier 1 companies. Activities of the role include engaging with these companies and assisting them with designing & developing their next generation of BI solutions.
This position will represent Avanade’s approach to BI solutions and as such must demonstrate proficiency at the architecture level. Specific activities include business engagement, workshop facilitation, conceptual and physical data modeling, ETL & Cube design and implementation, presentation layer design and implementation.
In addition to contributing to bids for work such as presales activities and effort estimation, customer workshops and business requirements gathering, we would also expect to see previous experience of solution architecture and formal team leadership.
Furthermore, experience of managing the operational activities of a consulting practice such as thought leadership, architectural QA of existing project engagements and training & development strategies, would be highly desirable. Experience with verticals such as financial services & insurance, energy & utilities, manufacturing, retail would be of benefit, as well as an understanding of the key challenges facing these verticals

- Front End Analytic / Modeling tools (PowerPivot, Proclarity)
- PerformancePoint Services / Excel Services
- Experience in SharePoint 2007/2010/2013
- .Net Development Experience beneficial
- Exposure to non-Microsoft BI tools beneficial
- Exposure to Big Data technologies such as Hadoop / HDInsight beneficial
Design skills
- Kimball Solution Architecture
- Experience of Business Analysis activities (Requirements Gathering / Analysis)
- Data warehouse Modeling
- Effective Report Design, both using appropriate Data Visualisations and Relevant Metric Definition
Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years of IT industry experience
- 5+ years of consulting experience
- 5+ years of business intelligence development experience
- 3+ years technical team leadership or management experience
- Ability to travel 80% of the time to the customer location
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS or related field
- MCDBA / MCITP certifications beneficial
Travel is an integral part of this position. Although a majority of our work is based locally, candidates must be willing and able to travel within Australia as much as is required by the needs of our customers and our business. Although not frequent, this could also involve international assignments.
